Open your mind - London
THE PROJECT

Open Your Mind London was a multi-day experimental dance & arts festival that occurred at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in 2019. It featured a showcase of provocative performances, videography works with the highlight of the event being an experimental dance battle. Each progression of the battle allowed for a new concept to be tested; one round in particular, exploring the 1:1 dynamics of a live musician and a dancer.

This event undoubtedly challenged the creativity of the urban and contemporary dance scenes, as well as the London music and arts community and beyond. It also enriched the experiences of the participants and spectators by pushing boundaries of traditional perceptions of art and movement, allowing oneself to ‘OPEN YOUR MIND’.

As artistic director, event producer, and organizer, alongside her partner Svantje Buchholz, Emi saw the event come to life from the ground up. All aspects of the events went through Svan and Emi’s hearts and hands. From creating risk assessments, to hiring staff, to auditioning performers, coordinating with the venue, and marketing, every step was infused with the greater vision of supporting the local artistic community, provoking creativities, and bridging gaps between art niches. As a result, a movement and a community of ambitious artists was planted in London. The same energy of creative provocation, building community, and creating something from nothing, all with an open mind,  is what informs her coaching and producing work today.
